Oktoberfest 2018 Set To Return To Middlesbrough

Traditional Bratwurst sausages at Oktoberfest Middlesbrough 2017

The official organisers of Oktoberfest Middlesbrough 2017 have confirmed there will be a 2018 Oktoberfest, so keep your lederhosen and dirndls at the ready until then.

The beer was flowing and the sausages were sizzling when the world-famous Oktoberfest came to Middlesbrough for the first time. Dressed up in my dirndl (a traditional Bavarian beer dress) I headed towards the huge tent and was relieved to find I was not the only one. While not everyone decided to don a traditional Bavarian beer costume, there were steins everywhere.

The famous German Bratwurst sausage was a hit too with a constant stream queuing up to try the speciality hot dog.

A woman from Germany who has been living here for over 20 years said she was very happy that the Oktoberfest had finally come to Middlesbrough.

I toasted “prost” with her as we swayed to the Oompah band in the knowledge of how much this meant to her.

Reviews post-fest complained about the price of a stein, yet overall most felt that a fiver a pint was worth it, considering the experience and the quality of the ‘bier’.
