AS St George’s Day approaches, many people will be preparing to celebrate England’s national day and one company has managed to use the approaching day to help advertise their product.
English beer company Bombardier have had adverts displayed on bus stops for the last month or so. The adverts feature a list of things that many people perceive as English, such as Punch and Judy, teapots, bulldogs and pork pies.
But the most interesting thing on these adverts is that Bombardier are apparently the official beer of English Heritage – a group you would more commonly associate with maintaining derelict castles than drinking copious amounts of alcohol.
This is just one example of advertising that is not entirely appropriate. Sometimes, as above, it’s a case of the two brands not really being a good match for each other. However, occasionally you see advertising partnerships where it’s difficult to see why the partnership came about.
