Boro to host Japanese Cartoon Convention

Middlesbrough is turning Japanese for a special comics and cartoons convention this summer.

Hundreds of fans are expected to descend on the town when it plays host to the North East Manga & Anime Convention (Nemacon).

The convention will be devoted to animation and comics from Japan, a country known for its love of cartoons.

Although Sex and the City’s final episode aired in 2004 its combination of graphic gags and seriously unwearable high fashion still manages to keep me giggling for a good half an hour.

But I’m usually left watching it on my own. The programme certainly lives up to its name -some of the ruder scenes are enough to scare off my parents – and the more daring dialogue still manages to shock me in an era when society is used to women talking openly about sex.

The way the narrative is used to weave each episode together reminds me of Bridget Jones but where Bridget is writing her diary, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is writing her weekly column. More

No Matter What

A TENDER five months ago Boyzone received shattering news that would inevitably change their world.  Stephen Gately, their beloved band mate and “Brother” had died.

Last night saw ITV broadcast a tribute to Stephen with Boyzone and other familiar faces singing some of their greatest hits.  Making sure his memory lived on, Boyzone members, Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy performed special one off tributes to the Irish star.

JEREMY Kyle celebrated his 1,000th episode today by mixing reality and soap-land in an on-screen Corrie clash.

The show aired at 9:30 this morning after weeks of mystery and dramatic build up to mark the 1,000 episodes of  tears, tantrums and DNA tests.

Coronation Street’s David, Tina and Nick appeared on the talk show in an almighty acting sensation entitled ‘Has my brother been sleeping with my ex?’

The characters received the results of a lie detector test in true Kyle fashion, and argued soap storylines as if they were real life.
