Hordes of gamers flock to Midnight launch of Call of Duty

Crowds of keen gamers headed to Middlesbrough Town centre  to grab the hotly anticipated new Call of Duty game.

The video game store “GAME” hosted a zombie themed launch night at Teesside’s University Students’ Union where Call of Duty fans were invited to come along and play the popular shooter game.

The setup was video game enthusiast’s dream with several consoles to play on down the side, two widescreens and one big projector screen.

“GAME” ran a couple of competitions for the players where they had to complete “Mile High Club” on veteran mode, a mission featured on Call of Duty 4, in under 60 seconds

And a Zombie tournament, where pairs teamed up to try and achieve the highest wave score.

The night had a great turn out and everyone had a smile on their face, along with some fierce competition too.

Game’s Middlesbrough Store Manager, Graham, spoke to Tside’s Editor, Josh Gallacher, about the game launch.

He said: We’re always looking for something out of the ordinary to do when it comes to a game launch and for somewhere cool to do it in.”

At the end of the event, “GAME” staged a zombie walk to the store in the Town Centre, and once they were at the store they created a real-life zombie break in, as the shops entrance was barricaded in similar fashion to the game.

Crowds started to gather early on, as the shop was already packed by 11pm. The queue by midnight had stretched down Linthorpe High Street and excitement began to ring in the air.

Gamer, Adam, was one of the first people to get hold of the game. He spoke of his joy on getting the game.

He said: “I’m super hyped and I’m going to go home and play it all night long”

The night seemed to be a great success in the end and was a great way of getting gamers together to enjoy the launch of a new game.
