Teesside Cricketers handed away game in opening fixture

Teesside University Men’s Cricket Team.

Teesside  cricketers have officially joined the universities national  cricket league after reforming the team this year.

The club which is back up and running after five years will kick off their season  in the British Universities College and Sports League (BUCS) against Durham University’s  fifth team on Wednesday April 26.

Teesside will compete in the BUCS Cricket Northern 5B League for their opening season with high hopes of gaining promotion.

Squad player Alex Wilman is looking forward to the season getting started: “It’s been great watching the club grow from a small player base to what we have now.

“All the lads are fantastic and enthusiastic about playing cricket for the university, which will definitely help us in seasons to come.

I’m looking forward to watching the club grow in seasons to come and welcoming anyone who would like to play for the university.”

The team’s first home fixture is at Marton Cricket Club against Leeds Beckett on May 3.

The Teessiders then travel to Yorkshire and the Humber to take on Sheffield University men’s third team.

Before a home fixture against Durham University on Wednesday May 17.

The final two games of the season they travel away to Leeds Beckett, before finishing the season at home against the University of Sheffield.

Teesside will compete in the BUCS Cricket Northern 5B League for their opening season, with hopes of gaining promotion in their opening season.
